BONZIE, the moniker for independent multi-instrumentalist and singer Nina Ferraro, was born to be a musician. With the independent release of her debut record, Rift Into The Secret Of Things, BONZIE has manifested into a songwriter that isn’t traditional or confessional, but more of an observer and commentator. She’s drawn to expressing the concerns of her generational cohort, influenced by artists such as Judee Sill, Jim O’Rourke, Daniel Johnston, and Björk. Industry juggernauts from The New York Times to Spin and Brooklyn Vegan have praised her genre-bending sound and multi-dimensional songwriting.
BONZIE is now set to release her second full-length, the much-anticipated Zone on Nine. Due out May 19th 2017, the album was produced by Ferraro herself, along with Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Conor Oberst) and Ali Chant (Perfume Genius, Youth Lagoon).
The first song off the upcoming album, "Fading Out", was premiered on VICE in April of 2017, who wrote about the track, "Her intricately layered music taps into personal connections — the relationship you have with yourself, the connection between the body and the mind... [it has a] gorgeous sonic palette that's hard to pinpoint but instantly alluring". The second single, "Combback", shortly followed on Paste Magazine.
